"If I slip up even once, all my progress is erased"
How it sounds in your head: I've heard the stories - one beer, one pill, one moment of weakness, and boom, back to square one. Everything I've built just vanishes. All that work for nothing.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Source: Works-righteousness teaching that progress is based on human performance rather than Christ's completed work.
He's seen others lose their chips, restart their count, and spiral after one mistake. The system teaches that stumbling equals total failure, creating massive fear around any weakness.
Abandoned Paul and Barnabas mid-mission trip, caused such a sharp disagreement he split up the greatest missionary team in history, was rejected by Paul as unreliable. Years later Paul wrote 'Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is USEFUL TO ME for ministry' - complete restoration, no progress lost, became author of a Gospel.
I REFUSE the lie that one moment erases God's work in me. IT IS WRITTEN that HE who began a good work in me WILL complete it - and nothing I do can stop what HE is doing. My sanctification isn't a house of cards that falls with one breath - it's a FOUNDATION built on the ROCK of Christ. The BARAK blessing covered Jacob even when he was ACTIVELY DECEIVING - and that same covenant grace covers me. IT IS WRITTEN that love keeps no record of wrongs. God doesn't have a reset button. He has a FINISHED WORK at the cross, and my moments don't undo His ETERNAL ACCOMPLISHMENT.
The Father isn't holding an eraser waiting to wipe out your progress at the first stumble - He's holding you in His hand where NO ONE can snatch you, and He's committed to completing what He started. He's not interested in your perfection - He's committed to your TRANSFORMATION, and that's His job, not yours.
