"I have a disease I can't cure — I'm biologically broken forever"
How it sounds in your head: They told you addiction is a disease, like diabetes — manageable but incurable. Your brain is rewired permanently. You'll always be one bad decision away from destruction. It's medical, genetic, biological. You're fundamentally broken in a way that can't be fixed.
"I will give you a NEW HEART and put a NEW SPIRIT within you; I will take the HEART OF STONE out of your flesh and give you a HEART OF FLESH."
-- Ezekiel 36:26World/Medical model that makes sin a disease and removes the POWER OF THE BLOOD to make all things new
Brain scans show changes in addicts' brains. Doctors use the word 'disease.' Insurance covers it as a medical condition. Your family history probably has addiction in it. Science seems to back up the idea that you're biologically doomed.
Man born blind — genetically, biologically, from conception broken. Disciples asked whose sin caused it (looking for a reason). Jesus said it's not about sin — it's about displaying God's works, spit in dirt, made mud, put it on his eyes, and he was INSTANTLY healed of a lifelong 'incurable' biological condition.
I REFUSE the lie that I have an incurable disease. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me a NEW HEART and a NEW SPIRIT — He takes the heart of stone out and gives a heart of flesh. I am not managing a disease — I am a NEW CREATION in Christ; old things PASSED AWAY. IT IS WRITTEN that all things have become NEW. My brain is not permanently broken — I've been REGENERATED by the Holy Spirit. Like the man born blind received sight in an instant, I receive WHOLENESS, RENEWAL, and HEALING at the cellular level. I am not a victim of biology — I am a son of God, and His POWER rewrites every limitation the world calls 'permanent.' I am being transformed by the renewing of my MIND.
Father doesn't see you as a 'disease case' He's managing. He sees you the way He saw the man born blind — an opportunity to display His works. He's not giving you coping mechanisms; He's giving you a NEW HEART, NEW SPIRIT, and saying 'Watch what I can do with what they called incurable.'
