"If I really believed, I wouldn't need to see signs or proof"
How it sounds in your head: Asking for confirmation feels like weak faith. Gideon's fleece seems immature. I should just trust blindly without needing God to show me anything.
"Then Gideon said to God, 'Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece'"
-- Judges 6:39Religious teaching that mature faith means closing your eyes and leaping without asking God for guidance
She's heard 'blessed are those who haven't seen and believed' weaponized against asking for wisdom. Wanting clarity feels like insulting God's sovereignty.
Gideon asked God for confirmation with a fleece—twice, apologetically expecting anger. God patiently provided both signs without rebuke, then used Gideon to deliver Israel.
I REFUSE the lie that asking for confirmation is immature faith. IT IS WRITTEN that Gideon tested God TWICE with fleeces and God answered both times without condemnation. I am not manufacturing certainty through blind leaps—I am BRANCH receiving life from the VINE, and He WANTS to guide me. IT IS WRITTEN in James 1:5 that if I lack wisdom, I should ASK and God gives GENEROUSLY without reproach. Not reluctantly. Not conditionally. Generously. The Father ran to the prodigal who had ZERO proof of restoration coming—He delights in revealing Himself.
The Father isn't offended by your need for clarity—He's the one who said 'ask and you shall receive.' He gave Gideon two fleeces, Hezekiah a backwards shadow, and Mary a pregnant cousin as confirmation because He loves confirming His promises to His children.
