"If I let this go too soon, I'm spiritually shallow and not taking sin seriously enough."
How it sounds in your head: I see people on social media who just 'move on' from everything without truly processing. I don't want to be spiritually shallow. Doesn't quick forgiveness indicate I don't really understand the weight of what I did?
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
-- 1 John 1:9Religious culture that equates emotional suffering with spiritual depth, making freedom feel like superficiality.
She's watched people glibly excuse serious sin without apparent repentance, and she's determined to have genuine, deep faith—not shallow positivity. Long processing feels like proof of spiritual maturity and appropriate seriousness.
Barabbas was a convicted murderer and insurrectionist waiting for execution. Jesus took his place, and Barabbas walked out of prison immediately with zero processing time, no restitution plan, no probation—just instant, complete freedom he didn't earn or deserve.
I REFUSE the lie that quick forgiveness is shallow. IT IS WRITTEN that when I confess my sins, He is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from ALL unrighteousness—immediately, not after appropriate processing time. God doesn't require extended suffering to prove I take sin seriously; He requires belief that His blood is sufficient. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new every morning—daily, fresh, immediate. Under the BARAK blessing, I am forgiven not through my processing but through His covenant. I take sin seriously by taking His forgiveness seriously. I am CLEAN. I am FREE. I move FORWARD.
The Father doesn't measure your spiritual depth by how long you punish yourself—He measures it by how quickly you believe His Word over your feelings. He's not impressed by your extended guilt; He's waiting for you to be impressed by His extended grace.
