"If I let my guard down now, I'll die having trusted and been betrayed again."
How it sounds in your head: I have maybe a year left. If I open my heart and get hurt again, I'll die in pain. Better to stay guarded and die in control than risk one final betrayal.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."
-- Psalm 23:4Enemy: Uses the brevity of remaining life to magnify the risk of trust, convincing you that control is safer than surrender in your final chapter.
With death imminent, there's no 'time to recover' from another wound. The enemy makes self-protection seem like wisdom when every day might be your last.
Simeon waited his ENTIRE life to see the Messiah, was promised he wouldn't die until he saw Him. In his FINAL days, he held baby Jesus and said 'NOW let Your servant depart in peace.' His lifetime of waiting ended in ONE MOMENT of fulfillment—ultimate trust rewarded at the END.
I REFUSE the lie that I'll die betrayed if I let my guard down. IT IS WRITTEN that though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear NO evil, for He is WITH me (Psalm 23:4). Death is not the end—it's stepping into the arms of the Father who has NEVER failed me. IT IS WRITTEN that to be absent from the body is to be PRESENT with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). I am blessed coming in and going out—the BARAK covers my FINAL breath. I declare: I will NOT die in fear; I will die in TRUST, and step into perfect Love.
The Father isn't asking you to risk betrayal—He's inviting you to rest in the ONLY one who's been faithful through every single day of your 90+ years. Like the Prodigal's father who NEVER stopped watching, YOUR Father has watched over you EVERY day, and He's preparing to RUN to you the moment you step into eternity. You're not risking heartbreak; you're walking into the safest embrace in existence.
