"If I forgive them, they win and I'm endorsing what they did."
How it sounds in your head: Forgiveness feels like letting them off the hook. They don't deserve it, they haven't apologized, and everyone says you're justified to be angry. Forgiving feels like saying 'it's okay' when it's NOT okay.
"Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do."
-- Colossians 3:13Enemy twists forgiveness into endorsement, making your bitterness feel like justice instead of the prison it actually is.
They hurt you and haven't faced consequences, and unforgiveness feels like the only control you have. If you forgive, it feels like they 'get away with it' and the injustice goes unanswered.
Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery, lied to their father, and caused 13 years of prison and pain. Joseph forgave them INSTANTLY when reunited, saying 'You meant evil, but God meant it for good,' then provided for them—immediate forgiveness released immediate blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that forgiveness lets them win. IT IS WRITTEN that as Christ forgave me, I forgive others. This isn't about THEM—it's about MY freedom. I release this person to God's justice, which is better than mine. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 12:19 that vengeance belongs to the LORD, and I trust Him to handle what I cannot. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing doesn't flow through bitterness—it flows through GRACE. I choose forgiveness not because they deserve it, but because I'm FREE in Christ. The Father is running toward me with healing, and I will not stay chained to my betrayer by unforgiveness.
The Father isn't asking you to forgive to be forgiven—He already forgave you at the cross. He's inviting you to forgive so YOU can be free, like Joseph walking out of the prison of bitterness into the palace of abundance.
