"If I had modeled faith better, he wouldn't have walked away from God."
How it sounds in your head: He saw your hypocrisy—the times you were harsh, the Sundays you were short-tempered, the way you said one thing at church and another at home. Your inconsistency drove him away. You're the reason he wants nothing to do with God.
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day."
-- John 6:44Religious lie that makes children's faith dependent on parental perfection, denying the power of Holy Spirit to individually draw.
You remember specific moments of failure—losing your temper, being distracted, being legalistic when you should have shown grace. Those memories haunt you, and his rejection of faith seems like direct consequence.
Paul commends Timothy for his 'genuine faith, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice'—but notice Timothy's FATHER isn't mentioned because he was a Greek unbeliever. Timothy came to faith despite having an unbelieving father, proving that God's drawing power transcends parental imperfection.
I REFUSE the lie that my imperfections blocked God's access to my son. IT IS WRITTEN that NO ONE comes unless the FATHER draws—salvation is divine work, not parental performance. My failures cannot override the Holy Spirit's drawing power. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation in Christ Jesus—I will not accept shame the cross already removed. I AM forgiven completely. My son's faith journey is between him and the Father who is pursuing him with perfect love right now. The same God who saved me despite my sins is drawing my son despite mine. I declare the BARAK blessing over my household—the covenant promise that Abraham's blessing is on my seed.
The Father never assigned you to be perfect—He assigned Himself to be perfect on your behalf. Your son isn't rejecting God because of your hypocrisy; he's on a journey where the real God will reveal Himself beyond the imperfect messenger, and that encounter is already being orchestrated.
