"I wasted my sexual purity years ago; I'll never have the intimacy God intended for marriage."
How it sounds in your head: I didn't wait—pornography, past relationships, hookups, even affairs. I corrupted something that was supposed to be pure and protected. My wife and I don't have what couples who waited have. The baggage, the images, the comparison, the shame—it's always there. I forfeited the God-designed sexual connection through my sin, and there's no reset button.
"And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:11Religious shame theology that makes sexual sin uniquely unredeemable, contradicting the complete cleansing of Christ's blood.
Sexual sin feels different—more visceral, more embodied, more scarring than other sins. He has literal memories, images, and neural pathways carved by past sexual experiences that seem impossible to erase. The consequences feel permanent in his marriage bed.
Rahab was a professional prostitute—sex outside covenant was her identity and income. Yet she was not only saved and brought into Israel, she married into the tribe of Judah, bore Boaz, and is listed in Jesus' genealogy (Matthew 1:5). Her sexual past didn't disqualify her from covenant intimacy or legacy.
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual past disqualifies me from God's best intimacy. IT IS WRITTEN that I WAS washed, sanctified, and justified—past tense, complete work. My past is removed as far as the east is from the west. IT IS WRITTEN that 'if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW CREATION; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.' Rahab was a prostitute yet entered the Messianic line. The woman at the well became an evangelist. I am not defined by what I did; I am defined by what Christ did. My marriage bed is holy, my intimacy is redeemed, and shame has NO VOICE. I walk in complete purity and freedom NOW.
The Father doesn't see you through the lens of your sexual past—He sees you through the blood of His Son, which makes you as pure as if you never sinned. He's ready to give you intimacy, freedom, and connection in your marriage that exceeds what 'those who waited' have, because His redemption is better than innocence.
