"I wasted my life—it's too late to fulfill God's purpose for me now."
How it sounds in your head: I look back and see so many mistakes, so many years spent on the wrong things. Other women accomplished so much; I just survived. Now I'm at the end with nothing to show for it. I missed my calling.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Religion: Preaches you get one chance at a divine blueprint and if you miss it, you fail your destiny.
She compares her ordinary life to others' extraordinary stories and finds herself lacking. At ninety, there's no time left to do anything significant.
The thief had zero time left—hours, maybe minutes before death. His whole life was crime and violence, nothing noble or purposeful. Yet Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant redemption, instant purpose fulfilled, his name recorded in Scripture forever. One moment with Jesus redeemed an entire wasted life.
I REFUSE the lie that I wasted my life and it's too late for purpose. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:25 that God will RESTORE the years the locust ate—nothing is wasted in His hands. The thief on the cross found his purpose in his FINAL HOURS; God can redeem decades in a single moment. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:28, 'ALL things work together for good to those who love God'—even the mistakes, even the detours, even the 'wasted' years. I am in the PERFECT place at the PERFECT time because my steps are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). God is writing the FINAL CHAPTERS of my story right now, and under the BARAK blessing, those chapters will bear fruit that remains.
The Father isn't tallying up your wasted years with disappointment—He's the God who redeemed Ruth's entire tragedy in one harvest season, who made Peter the rock AFTER he denied Jesus three times, who met the thief on the cross in his last conscious moments and said 'your life is COMPLETE.' While you mourn lost time, He's declaring 'Behold, I make ALL things NEW' (Revelation 21:5), and that includes what you think was wasted.
