"I wasted my entire life building a marriage that ended in divorce"
How it sounds in your head: Sixty years of life invested in a partnership that crumbled. All those sacrifices—working extra hours to provide, prioritizing family over career advancement, building a home together. It all feels like wasted time now. If you'd known it would end like this, you would have made completely different choices. Your legacy is broken, and you can't get those years back.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
-- Romans 8:28Regret-based lie suggesting that seasons that end poorly were worthless, negating God's redemptive power over ALL things.
When you look back at decades of photos, memories, and shared experiences, knowing how it ended makes everything feel tainted. The enemy uses outcome to redefine the entire journey.
Moses spent 40 years in Pharaoh's palace training for leadership, then killed a man and spent 40 years in the wilderness tending sheep—80 years before his ministry even started. Nothing was wasted. Palace years taught administration; wilderness years taught humility. God used it ALL.
I REFUSE the lie that my past was wasted. IT IS WRITTEN: ALL things work together for GOOD to those who love God—including this divorce. IT IS WRITTEN: God will RESTORE the years that were eaten, and He makes all things beautiful in His time. My past experiences taught me compassion, resilience, and dependence on God. Nothing was wasted—it was all PREPARATION for what's next. God is the REDEEMER, and He is writing a story of resurrection in my life. My legacy is not 'divorced man'—it is 'man whom God restored.'
The Father isn't mourning your wasted years. He's saying, 'Son, I was with you through every season, and I'm not done yet. Watch Me take the broken pieces and make a mosaic that tells a story of grace.' Nothing is wasted when God's the Redeemer.
