"Church won't accept me. I'm too messy for community now."
How it sounds in your head: I see the whispers when I walk in alone. The perfect families don't know where to put me anymore. I don't fit in the singles group or the married group. I'm the awkward reminder that marriages fail, and nobody wants that energy around.
"Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."
-- Romans 15:7Source: Religious spirit that values appearance over authenticity, creating exclusion rather than the radical inclusion Jesus modeled with tax collectors and sinners.
Many churches have awkward responses to divorce, and you've experienced real social exclusion. Coupled friends distance themselves, and you become invisible in a culture built around nuclear families.
He was crippled in both feet, living in hiding in a wasteland called Lo Debar (meaning 'no pasture'), expecting execution as the grandson of Saul. King David searched for him, brought him to the palace, gave him a permanent seat at the royal table, and restored all of Saul's land to him instantly—from wasteland to palace in one day.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too messy for community. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ receives me JUST AS I AM, and any true church does the same. I am not awkward—I am AUTHENTIC. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from the love of God. If a community rejects me, that's their religious spirit, not God's heart. I belong at the King's table. I have a permanent seat. The Father is pulling out my chair right now, not pushing me away. I declare INSTANT connection with people who love like Jesus loves—radically, messily, inclusively.
The Father is searching for you like David searched for Mephibosheth—not to shame you, but to seat you at His table permanently. He's saying, 'You belong here. You ALWAYS belonged here. Pull up your chair and eat with Me.'
