"I wasted my best years on wrong priorities and now it's too late to do what really matters."
How it sounds in your head: You chased money instead of mentoring your kids. Built a career instead of building a marriage. You have the corner office and an empty house. Your grandkids barely know you because you weren't there for your own kids. The years you can't get back define the legacy you can't change.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Enemy accusation combined with worldly timeline thinking that believes certain seasons are 'too late' for redemption or meaningful impact.
At 60-plus, you see the fruit of decades of choices—estranged adult children, shallow relationships, health problems from stress-driven decades. Retirement exposes that work filled the void of real intimacy, and you can't rewind the clock.
Onesimus was a runaway slave who stole from his master Philemon—years wasted in rebellion and theft, relationship destroyed, reputation ruined. Paul says in verse 15, 'perhaps he departed for a while that you might receive him FOREVER, no longer as a slave but...a BELOVED BROTHER'—instant transformation from thief to family, stolen years redeemed into eternal brotherhood.
I REFUSE the lie that wasted years create permanent loss. IT IS WRITTEN that God will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten—not compensate for them, but actually RESTORE them. My past poor priorities do not disqualify my present purpose. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 3:20 that God does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. He specializes in late-stage miracles: Abraham at 100, Moses at 80, Anna the prophetess serving in the temple into her 80s and seeing the Messiah. The BARAK blessing of Abraham operates in my life NOW, making my latter years greater than my former. What I missed in my 30s, God multiplies in my 60s. Restoration is His nature, not my achievement.
The Father doesn't write you off because you prioritized poorly for decades—He runs toward you NOW with the robe and ring, celebrating your present turning, not calculating your past wandering. Like the workers hired at the eleventh hour who received full pay, His generosity isn't reduced by your late arrival.
