"I've struggled with same-sex attraction. Even if I don't act on it, I'm fundamentally broken and will never be normal or fully loved by God."
How it sounds in your head: You didn't choose these feelings, but they prove something is wrong with you at the core. Church people say God loves you but secretly think you're an abomination. You'll always be fighting this, always be different, always be less-than. Even if you marry a guy someday, you'll be lying about who you really are.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Religious condemnation separating temptation from identity, making attraction equal to sin and disqualification.
The feelings are real and unchosen, religious messaging has been harsh, and she feels isolated from both church and LGBTQ+ community—not fully accepted anywhere.
This woman had five husbands and was living with a man she wasn't married to—her sexual history and current situation were public scandal, and she was marginalized even among Samaritans (she came to the well alone at noon to avoid others). Jesus spoke to her FIRST about living water, offered her salvation BEFORE she changed anything, and made her the FIRST EVANGELIST to her city—her past and present didn't delay her calling even one second.
I REFUSE the lie that my attractions make me broken or unloved. IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING—not things present, not things to come, not ANY created thing—can separate me from God's love in Christ Jesus. My feelings do not define me; CHRIST defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am not fundamentally broken—I am FULLY LOVED, fully accepted, and fully WHOLE as a daughter of the King. God is not waiting for me to 'fix' this to love me; He loves me COMPLETELY right now.
The Father isn't disgusted by your struggle or keeping you at arm's length until you're 'normal'—He's running toward you, pulling you into His chest, and whispering, 'You are MINE, you are LOVED exactly as you are right now, and I'm not afraid of your questions or your feelings.' He's not offering you conditional love based on who you're attracted to—He's offering you UNCONDITIONAL love based on who HE is.
