"I was sexually abused by a family member. I'm dirty, used, and broken in a way that can never be fixed or made clean again."
How it sounds in your head: It happened in your own house, by someone who was supposed to protect you. You can't even feel safe in your own body. You're contaminated, and no amount of showers will make you clean. When you get married someday, you'll have to tell him you're not pure, that someone else was there first, and he'll never see you the same way.
"To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."
-- Isaiah 61:3Trauma fused with shame, enemy branding victim with abuser's crime as though it's her identity.
The violation was physical and real, her body remembers, and purity culture has told her that virginity lost equals value lost. The abuse feels like a permanent stain.
Tamar (Judah's daughter-in-law, not David's daughter) was widowed twice, denied her rights, and resorted to desperate measures—yet she is one of only FIVE women listed in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1. God didn't disqualify her from the Messianic line; He INCLUDED her by name as proof that sexual history does NOT disqualify you from holy destiny.
I REFUSE the lie that abuse made me dirty or broken. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me BEAUTY for ashes—He doesn't repair the damage; He REPLACES it with something completely NEW. What was done to me does NOT define me. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am NOT used goods—I am a HOLY daughter of the King, and my body is a TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit. The enemy tried to steal my purity, but Jesus says I am PURE because of HIS blood, not because of what did or didn't happen to my body. I am WHOLE, CLEAN, and BELOVED.
The Father is not asking you to 'get over it' or 'forgive and move on'—He is RAGING on your behalf at the injustice, holding you while you grieve, and declaring over you: 'You are MINE, you are PURE, you are UNDEFILED in My eyes, and I am clothing you in beauty that erases every trace of what was stolen.' He's running toward you with the robe of righteousness that makes you COMPLETELY clean.
