"I was always bad at friendship. I never learned how to connect. It's too late now."
How it sounds in your head: Other men had hunting buddies, fishing partners, guys they called when things broke. I never figured that out. I worked, came home, repeated. Now I'm paying the price for a lifetime of relational failure.
"God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land."
-- Psalm 68:6Religious performance measuring relationships like carpentry—grading your 'craftsmanship' instead of receiving your Father's assessment of who He MADE you to be.
The evidence spans decades. Other men's funerals have packed rooms. Yours might have five people. The PATTERN of isolation isn't recent—it's lifelong—which makes it feel like character flaw, not circumstantial.
Mephibosheth lived in isolation at Lo Debar ('place of nothing'), crippled and convinced he was worthless. King David SENT for him, gave him instant family position, permanent place at the royal table—zero qualification required except being Jonathan's son. One day in hiding, next day eating with kings FOREVER.
I REFUSE the lie that relational patterns from my past define my present or future. IT IS WRITTEN that God SETS the solitary in families—not 'helps them earn their way in' but SETS them. My Father doesn't wait for me to develop skills; He PLACES me in connection because that's His nature. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK includes being blessed coming in and going out—that covers EVERY relational movement. I am being positioned for divine friendships RIGHT NOW, not because I mastered connection, but because my Father is actively orchestrating it. I receive it NOW.
Your Father never looked at your solitary years and thought, 'He's bad at this.' He thought, 'I'm protecting him from wrong connections until I can bring the RIGHT ones.' Like a father keeping a son from a bad business partner, He's been GUARDING you, not grading you. The connections coming now are HIS DESIGN for this season.
