"People only hang out with me when they need something. Nobody actually enjoys my company."
How it sounds in your head: They text when they need a ride, need help moving, need a fourth for the team. But when it's just for fun? Silence. You're useful, not wanted. A tool, not a friend.
"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."
-- John 15:15Orphan spirit convincing you that love must be earned through usefulness instead of received as identity.
You're the one they call for favors but not for Friday night. You help everyone move but don't get invited to the housewarming. The utilitarian pattern is painfully clear.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding, convinced he was worthless—'a dead dog.' King David brought him to the palace and said 'You will eat at my table ALWAYS,' not for what he could do (he was disabled) but because of covenant. Instant elevation from outcast to family.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm only wanted for what I provide. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus calls me FRIEND and shares the Father's secrets with me—I'm delighted in, not just used. I am not a servant scrambling for approval but a SON with a seat at the table. IT IS WRITTEN that I carry the BARAK blessing of Abraham, which means divine favor draws people who value me, not just my services. I'm done auditioning for friendship. I RECEIVE the friends my Father has already assigned.
The Father is running toward you with a chair at His table that has your name carved in it, and He's inviting you not because He needs something but because the meal isn't complete without you. He's about to introduce you to people who want you there just because you're you.
