"I started smoking or vaping, so my body is permanently damaged and unblessed."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone says your body is a temple, and I'm polluting mine. I feel like I've permanently damaged what God gave me. Other kids who kept their bodies pure probably get healing and health, but I disqualified myself by choosing this.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Source: Religion's 'body as temple' teaching used for condemnation instead of grace, making health conditional on past behavior.
Physical addiction feels like permanent damage. Health class shows pictures of diseased lungs, and it feels like you've set a curse in motion that grace can't reverse because it's 'biological consequences.'
This man was an invalid for THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS—his body was wrecked, and John 5:14 hints it was from his own sin ('sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you'). Jesus didn't make him earn healing through years of purity; He said 'Rise, take up your bed and walk,' and IMMEDIATELY the man was made well.
I REFUSE the lie that my past choices permanently damaged what God can do with my body. IT IS WRITTEN that by Jesus' STRIPES I AM healed—present tense, already done. The invalid at Bethesda was sick for 38 YEARS because of his own sin, yet Jesus healed him INSTANTLY with one command. IT IS WRITTEN that I am redeemed from the CURSE of the law, which includes sickness and disease. The BARAK blessing says 'none of the diseases of Egypt'—not 'none of the diseases unless you vaped.' My body's restoration isn't based on my past purity; it's based on Jesus' FINISHED WORK. I am HEALED, WHOLE, and the temple of the Holy Spirit is being RESTORED right now by grace.
The Father isn't withholding healing because you made bad choices—He already paid for EVERY consequence at the cross, including lung damage and addiction. His stripes bought your healing before you were born, and that payment doesn't expire because of vaping.
