"I should have lowered my standards; that's why I'm alone now."
How it sounds in your head: You were too picky. You turned down good women because they weren't perfect. Now you're old and alone and it's your own fault. You should have settled. Pride kept you single.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religion preaches that singleness is punishment for being too selective, making discernment sound like arrogance.
You DID turn people down. You DO wonder 'what if.' The enemy replays every declined opportunity as proof of foolish pride.
Isaac waited while Abraham sent a servant 500 miles to find the RIGHT wife—Rebekah. He didn't settle for a local Canaanite woman. God HONORED the wait and brought exactly who Isaac needed. Discernment isn't pride; it's trust.
I REFUSE the lie that I should have settled or that my singleness is punishment for discernment. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies ALL my needs according to His riches. If I'm single, He was PROTECTING or PREPARING, not punishing. IT IS WRITTEN in Genesis 24:67 that Isaac waited for God's choice and got Rebekah. I am BARAK-blessed, and the Father doesn't give me leftovers. I trust HIS supply, not my regret. I made wise choices, not proud mistakes.
The Father whispers: 'I'm not mad you had standards—I GAVE you discernment. Every 'no' was Me protecting you. And I've been your companion through every season. You didn't miss MY best.' He's been guiding every choice, even the 'no's.
