"I should have been a better steward so God isn't obligated to help now."
How it sounds in your head: You wasted money. Made foolish decisions. Didn't tithe consistently. Spent on yourself. Now you want God to bail you out? You broke your end of the deal. He owes you nothing.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Source: religious teaching that God's provision is RESPONSE to our stewardship rather than GIFT of His grace, making blessing transactional instead of covenantal.
He remembers financial mistakes clearly—the bad investments, the impulse purchases, the times he didn't give. Current need feels like proof he disqualified himself from God's help.
He demanded his inheritance early, blew EVERY PENNY on prostitutes and parties, ended up broke and eating pig food—total financial failure. The Father's response? Ran to him, restored him FULLY, threw a party, gave him authority again. ZERO process. ZERO probation.
I REFUSE the lie that God's provision depends on my past stewardship. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me. The Prodigal wasted everything and was instantly restored. God's provision flows from His NATURE, not my performance. The BARAK blessed Abraham even when he LIED. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:8-9 that I am saved by GRACE through faith, not of works. The same grace that saved me SUPPLIES me. I am not under law but under GRACE, and grace gives what I don't deserve. My Father is RUNNING toward me with provision right now.
The Father is whispering: 'You think your mistakes surprised Me? I knew every one and chose you ANYWAY. My provision isn't paycheck—it's PROMISE.' The fattened calf was ready before the Prodigal even turned toward home. Provision was prepared in advance.
