"I should have adopted when I was younger; now it's too late and my fault."
How it sounds in your head: You had OPTIONS. You could have adopted in your 40s, 50s, 60s. You chose not to, waited for biological children that never came, and now you're too old to qualify. This emptiness is YOUR choice, YOUR fault. You can't blame God when you didn't take the doors He opened.
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you."
-- Joel 2:25Enemy using hindsight to create false guilt, weaponizing past decisions as evidence of disqualifying failure.
At 85, every past decision is magnified through the lens of current regret. Adoption agencies won't take someone your age, and it feels like proof you made irreversible mistakes that closed doors God won't reopen.
Mordecai had no biological children mentioned, yet he adopted his orphaned cousin Esther in his older years. She became QUEEN and saved an entire nation. Late adoption produced greater legacy than biological children ever could have, proving it's NEVER too late for family.
I REFUSE the lie that it's too late because I didn't adopt when younger. IT IS WRITTEN that God will RESTORE the years the locust has eaten—not punish me for them. Every decision I made, I made with the information I had. IT IS WRITTEN that God works ALL things together for good for those who love Him. Like Mordecai who adopted Esther late and raised a queen who saved a nation, God can bring me SPIRITUAL SONS, adopted connections, or legacy I cannot yet imagine. The BARAK blessing doesn't expire at 85. Restoration is coming.
The Father is NOT reviewing your adoption paperwork from 40 years ago with disappointment. Like Mordecai who became father to a queen through late-life adoption, God is running toward you with family connections and legacy that have NOTHING to do with agency age limits and EVERYTHING to do with His limitless creativity.
