"I should focus on healing my soul first, then maybe God will heal my body."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor said spiritual health matters more than physical health. Maybe I need to get right spiritually before expecting physical healing. Maybe my soul is sick and that's why my body is sick. I should work on my relationship with God first, then healing will follow if I'm spiritual enough.
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases."
-- Psalm 103:2-3Religion creating hierarchy of healing and making physical healing CONDITIONAL on spiritual performance, adding WORKS to grace.
Christian culture prioritizes 'spiritual' over 'physical' making body concerns seem shallow. Teaching about 'getting your heart right with God' implies there's an order of operations. Your age makes you doubt your spiritual maturity is sufficient. 'Soul health first' sounds humble and appropriately focused on God.
Men lowered a paralyzed man through a roof to Jesus. Jesus said, 'Man, your sins are FORGIVEN you.' Religious leaders freaked out. Then Jesus said, 'Which is easier to say, your sins are forgiven, or rise and walk?' and to prove He had authority for BOTH, He said, 'Rise, take up your bed and go home.' IMMEDIATELY the man stood up, picked up his bed, and left GLORIFYING GOD. Forgiveness and healing happened in the SAME MOMENT as ONE COMPLETE PACKAGE, not soul first then body later.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn physical healing through spiritual progress. IT IS WRITTEN: God 'forgives ALL my iniquities and heals ALL my diseases'—BOTH listed as equal benefits, available NOW, not in stages. IT IS WRITTEN: by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, FINISHED, purchased at the same cross that forgave my sin. I don't unlock body healing by completing soul healing first. I am COMPLETELY RIGHTEOUS in Christ RIGHT NOW, which means healing is MINE right now. The Abrahamic blessing covers my WHOLE life—spirit, soul, AND body—because I am IN CHRIST. I RECEIVE total redemption: forgiveness AND healing, NOW, as one complete gift.
Your Father didn't divide the cross into sections—'this part for your soul, wait for that part for your body.' He gave you TOTAL redemption in one moment. Like the father gave the prodigal robe, ring, sandals, and party ALL AT ONCE without stages of probation, God gives you spiritual AND physical wholeness TOGETHER because you're His beloved daughter, not a project to complete in phases.
