"I require too much maintenance. People are tired of dealing with my needs and complexity."
How it sounds in your head: You see the exhaustion in people's eyes when you bring up another issue. Your complexity feels like a burden—emotionally, relationally, spiritually. Simple people seem more loved.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
-- Matthew 11:28Religious spirit that equates neediness with unworthiness, contradicting Jesus who said 'blessed are the poor in spirit.'
You've had people create distance after intense seasons. Someone actually said 'you're a lot to handle.' Your marriage has felt strained by your emotional complexity, and you wonder if you're just... work.
Five failed marriages, living with a man not her husband, social outcast, wrong race, wrong gender for a Rabbi to speak to—Jesus spent the LONGEST recorded one-on-one conversation with her. She wasn't too much; she was the PERFECT audience for Living Water.
I REFUSE the lie that my complexity makes me a burden to God or people. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus invites those who are heavy laden—my needs don't disqualify me, they QUALIFY me for His rest. I am NOT high maintenance to the Father who calls me son. The BARAK blessing on my life means I am blessed in my coming and going, in my simple days and complicated ones. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus—not for needing help, not for processing deeply, not for being multifaceted. I am the righteousness of God, and my depth is a gift, not a deficit.
The Father isn't counting the cost of loving you—He already paid it at the cross. Your complexity doesn't exhaust Him; it delights Him like a father studying the unique personality of his beloved son.
