"I need to wait until I'm more obedient before God will answer."
How it sounds in your head: You know you've been messing up—that attitude yesterday, that thought this morning, that thing you keep doing. God's not going to answer while you're still struggling. Get your act together first.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us."
-- Titus 3:5Religious teaching makes blessing conditional on behavior, turning covenant grace back into Old Covenant law performance.
You're very aware of your recent failures and it feels disrespectful to ask God for help when you haven't been perfect. Surely He won't bless disobedience.
Jacob LIED to his blind father and DECEIVED him to steal a blessing. When Isaac discovered the deception, he TREMBLED but declared 'I have blessed him and he SHALL BE BLESSED'—the blessing couldn't be reversed even by deliberate sin.
I REFUSE the lie that I must clean up before God moves. IT IS WRITTEN that not by MY works of righteousness but by HIS MERCY I am saved. I am under the BARAK covenant that protected LIARS, DECEIVERS, and MURDERERS—not because they were good but because of PROMISE. The prodigal got full restoration while still covered in pig filth. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. My breakthrough flows from HIS nature, not my performance. The Father is running toward me RIGHT NOW, not waiting for me to get perfect.
The Father isn't waiting for you to clean up—He's running toward you in your mess with the robe and ring. Like the prodigal who got the party BEFORE the bath, you're fully loved and fully blessed exactly as you are right now.
