"I need to take care of my family first—charity begins at home."
How it sounds in your head: You're the provider. Your wife is stressed about bills. Your kids need things. Your aging parents might need help soon. It's your JOB to take care of your household first. God wouldn't want you to give while your own family suffers. That's not faith—that's irresponsible.
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
-- Matthew 6:33World's responsibility sounds righteous but reverses God's order, making provision YOUR job instead of His.
Scripture itself says 'if anyone does not provide for his own, he has denied the faith.' Your family's needs are immediate and visible. Giving while they lack feels like abandoning your God-given role as provider and protector.
Peter needed tax money for himself AND Jesus. Jesus didn't say 'work harder' or 'budget better.' He sent Peter fishing, and one fish had EXACT money for both—supernatural provision when kingdom priorities came first, immediate solution with zero human effort.
I REFUSE the lie that my family suffers when I honor God first. IT IS WRITTEN to seek first His kingdom and EVERYTHING my family needs will be ADDED. I am not the source—I am a CONDUIT. My Father feeds ravens and clothes lilies, and He will provide for my household when I trust Him with firstfruits. IT IS WRITTEN that the BARAK blessing makes me blessed in the city and in the field, coming in and going out. My children don't need my hoarding—they need to SEE their father walking in covenant faith. I am the head and not the tail, and my family is covered by the blessing that cannot be stopped.
Your Father isn't asking you to choose between Him and your family—He's inviting you to trust Him WITH your family. Like the prodigal's father who had the ring, robe, and fattened calf prepared, your Father has already prepared provision for your household and is waiting for you to position yourself to receive it through honor.
