"I need to rest more and manage my energy better before God can use me effectively."
How it sounds in your head: You tell yourself if you could just get your life together—sleep schedule fixed, boundaries set, self-care routine—then you'd have energy for the things that matter. But until then, you're too tired to be useful.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Religious performance lie that your usefulness to God depends on your capacity, not His power.
Every productivity guru and Christian influencer talks about self-care and sabbath. Clearly, if you were more disciplined about rest, you'd have more energy. Your exhaustion feels like YOUR fault.
Gideon had 32,000 men—already outnumbered. God reduced the army to 300 because 'you have too many men; Israel might boast they saved themselves.' With 300 exhausted, under-resourced men, God routed an army of 135,000—INSTANT victory through impossible weakness.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to manage my energy better before God can use me. IT IS WRITTEN that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made PERFECT in weakness. My usefulness is not determined by my capacity but by His power resting on me. The same God who used 300 exhausted men to defeat 135,000 doesn't need me at full strength—He shows off IN my weakness. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:13 that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me—not through my own discipline. I am a branch abiding in the Vine, and fruit comes automatically. The BARAK blessing flows regardless of my energy levels.
The Father isn't waiting for you to optimize your life before He can use you. He's the God who chose the foolish, weak, and lowly things to shame the strong—and your exhaustion is the perfect stage for His strength to shine.
