"I need to lose weight before I'm acceptable to others or God."
How it sounds in your head: You avoid photos, decline invitations, wait to reconnect with old friends until you've 'fixed' yourself. God feels distant because you're embarrassed to approach Him like this. You'll get right with everyone once you lose the weight.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Religion: Performance theology makes acceptance conditional on improvement, treating God's love like human approval.
People DO judge by appearance—you've experienced it. And deep down, approaching God while 'failing' at discipline feels presumptuous, like you should clean up first.
Zacchaeus was a despised tax collector, short (possibly overweight), hiding in a tree. Jesus didn't say 'lose weight and clean up your act, then we'll talk.' He said 'Come down, I'm staying at your house TODAY.' Instant acceptance before any change.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to lose weight before I'm acceptable. IT IS WRITTEN: While I was still a sinner, Christ died for me—loved BEFORE change. God isn't waiting for me to improve—He's running toward me NOW. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from the love of God. I am righteous by GIFT, not by appearance. I come as I am to the feast already prepared. The BARAK blessing is mine NOW, not after transformation. I am accepted, loved, celebrated TODAY.
The Father isn't waiting at the finish line with arms crossed. He's the one who RAN down the road while you were still far off, still a mess. He threw the party BEFORE the transformation—ring, robe, sandals, feast. That's grace. You're already in.
