"I'll never have a healthy relationship with food; I'm too broken."
How it sounds in your head: Other girls eat normally without obsessing. I've tried so many times and failed. This is just who I am now - the girl who's weird about food. I'm too far gone to be normal.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Hopelessness planted by the enemy after repeated attempts at behavior modification without addressing identity.
She HAS tried multiple times - diets, plans, promises to herself - and nothing stuck. The neural pathways of restriction and binge are well-worn. Normal feels impossible.
Blind FROM BIRTH - never saw anything ever, no memory of sight, 'too broken' by every human measure. Jesus didn't do therapy or process - He put mud on his eyes, said 'go wash,' and IMMEDIATELY he saw for the first time in his life.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too broken for a healthy relationship with food. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION - old things PASSED AWAY. That includes every disordered pattern, every obsessive thought, every shame spiral. I am not slightly improved - I have been made COMPLETELY NEW. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives me a NEW heart and a NEW spirit. The woman who was broken around food is DEAD. I am alive in Christ, and in Him, freedom is my nature. This isn't a process - it's a position I already occupy.
Right now, your Father is handing you the ring of authority and saying 'You are NOT the girl who's broken around food - you're My daughter in whom all things are new.' He's not asking you to fix yourself first. He's declaring you ALREADY NEW.
