"I need to just accept this and stop hoping for healing. Hope keeps disappointing me."
How it sounds in your head: Every time you got your hopes up about healing, they got crushed. Maybe it's healthier to just accept reality, adjust expectations, stop setting yourself up for disappointment. Dave Ramsey would call hoping for a miracle 'magical thinking.' Maybe maturity means accepting limitations.
"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
-- Romans 5:5Worldly wisdom that frames faith as delusion and 'acceptance' as maturity, directly opposing Hebrews 11:1 definition of faith as substance.
Hope deferred really does make the heart sick (Prov 13:12), and your heart is exhausted from hoping. It feels safer to lower expectations than risk another crushing disappointment. The world calls this 'being realistic,' and that voice sounds wiser than the voice saying 'keep believing.'
Blind beggar, probably told a thousand times to 'accept reality' and stop making a scene hoping for healing. Religious leaders told him to be quiet. He REFUSED to stop hoping, shouted LOUDER, and Jesus IMMEDIATELY gave him sight—hope rewarded the moment it connected with Presence.
I REFUSE the lie that hope is dangerous or naive. IT IS WRITTEN: Hope does NOT disappoint, because God's love is poured into my heart. The world calls this foolishness; Heaven calls it FAITH. I will not trade my hope for 'acceptance' of what Christ already destroyed on the cross. The BARAK blessing Abraham carried was hope in the face of a dead womb, and he grew STRONG in faith, not 'realistic' in resignation. IT IS WRITTEN: Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for—not wishful thinking, but SUBSTANCE. My hope has weight in Heaven even when circumstances mock it on earth. I anchor my hope in covenant, not outcomes.
The Father isn't frustrated with your hope like the world is. He LOVES that you keep bringing this to Him, keep expecting, keep knocking. While Dave Ramsey calls it magical thinking, your Father calls it the CRY that moves His heart—Bartimaeus-level audacity that REFUSES to be silenced, and that's exactly the faith that stops Jesus in His tracks and gets an immediate 'What do you want Me to do for you?'
