"I need to have more faith before God will heal me."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor said if I just believed hard enough, I'd be healed. But I'm scared and sometimes I doubt, so maybe that's why I'm still sick. Other kids got healed at church, so it must be MY faith that's the problem. I'm trying so hard to believe, but what if I'm not believing correctly?
"And Jesus said to him, 'I will come and heal him.'"
-- Matthew 8:7Religious performance trap making healing dependent on human faith quality rather than finished work of Christ.
She's seen conditional healing theology modeled and heard stories of 'great faith' getting results, making her measure her trembling belief against others' testimonies.
She'd suffered twelve years, spent all her money, and wasn't getting better—her faith was probably pretty beaten down. She didn't even have faith to approach Jesus directly; she snuck up behind Him in a crowd thinking 'If I just touch His clothes.' That's not mountain-moving confidence; that's desperate last-ditch hope. Jesus called that FAITH, and IMMEDIATELY her bleeding stopped. Trembling, imperfect faith still accessed instant healing.
I REFUSE the lie that my healing depends on MY faith quality! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said 'I WILL heal' before checking anyone's faith report card. My healing was purchased at the cross by HIS faithfulness, not my faith performance. Even doubt mixed with mustard-seed belief is enough because the power is in HIM, not in my ability to believe perfectly. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, not by my faith strength but by HIS BLOOD. The BARAK blessing covered Abraham even when he LIED—his blessing wasn't based on his faith quality but on COVENANT. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, already done, just receiving what's already mine.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to muster up better belief. He's like the father who ran to the prodigal while the son still REEKED of pigs, before any confession was complete. Your trembling, messy, doubt-mixed faith is enough because HE is faithful.
