"I need to get my affairs in order and prepare to die—it's the responsible thing."
How it sounds in your head: The will needs updating. I should give away my jewelry. I need to tell the kids where everything is. I don't want to be a burden if I go suddenly. Planning my funeral is the practical, mature thing to do. I need to accept reality and prepare.
"Are You not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die."
-- Habakkuk 1:12Enemy strategy to shift focus from fighting for life to preparing for death, using responsibility as bait.
The diagnosis is serious. Friends have encouraged her to 'get things in order.' It feels irresponsible not to plan. She's been raised to be practical and prepare for the worst. Planning feels like control in an out-of-control situation.
Lazarus was not just dying—he was DEAD four days, already decomposing, funeral held, affairs settled, tomb sealed. Jesus showed up and shouted, 'Lazarus, come forth!' and INSTANTLY the dead man walked out alive—even death and decomposition reversed in one moment at Jesus' command.
I REFUSE the lie that preparing for death is more responsible than contending for life. IT IS WRITTEN, 'I shall not die, but LIVE and declare the works of the Lord.' My confession is LIFE, not funeral plans. IT IS WRITTEN that He daily loads me with benefits, and the benefit today is HEALING and LIVING. I am under the BARAK blessing that includes LONG LIFE and satisfaction—I am not done yet. The same power that raised Lazarus from the dead and JESUS from the grave lives in me and quickens my mortal body. I prepare to LIVE decades more in divine health, not to die. Death has NO dominion over me—I belong to the God of the LIVING!
The Father isn't handing you estate planning documents—He's handing you resurrection power and saying, 'Not yet, beloved; I have more for you.' Like the father who refused to let the prodigal play servant and insisted on full sonship, your Father refuses to let you play dying and insists you receive the LIFE He purchased with Jesus' blood.
