"I need to fix myself before I can have healthy relationships again."
How it sounds in your head: You think you need therapy first, healing first, boundaries first. Every self-help book says 'work on yourself' before dating or deep friendship. You feel like a project under construction—closed for repairs, come back later.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Religious/psychological teaching makes connection the REWARD for healing instead of the ENVIRONMENT for it, directly opposing the prodigal story.
The 'Boundaries' book and every Instagram therapist says you can't love others until you love yourself. The logic sounds airtight, and you don't want to repeat the same patterns.
Samaritan woman had five failed marriages and was living with a man—relationally wrecked, hiding at noon to avoid townspeople. Jesus IMMEDIATELY offered living water and called her into purpose, and she led her whole town to Christ THAT DAY—instant mission while still 'broken.'
I REFUSE the lie that I need to fix myself before healthy relationships. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION in Christ RIGHT NOW, not after I've processed enough. Old things PASSED AWAY at the cross—I'm not under construction, I'm COMPLETE in Him. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:10 that I am COMPLETE in Christ, and the Father is bringing safe people while I'm still healing, not after. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, which means I don't earn relationship—I RECEIVE it by grace. The BARAK blessing flows NOW, not later. Connection is coming while I'm still wounded because that's how the prodigal got the party.
The Father isn't waiting for you to 'be ready'—He's throwing the party while you still smell like the pig pen. Like the woman at the well getting purpose on her worst day, you get relationship NOW because grace doesn't wait for perfection.
