"I need to fight this battle; healing depends on my mental strength and positivity"
How it sounds in your head: Everyone says I need to 'stay positive' and 'fight hard.' If I'm not warrior-strong every minute, the cancer will win. If I cry or feel scared, I'm giving the disease power. I have to be brave enough to beat this.
"Thus says the LORD to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.'"
-- 2 Chronicles 20:15World system making healing dependent on HER strength instead of HIS finished work
Every cancer survivor story emphasizes their fighting spirit. Friends send memes about being a warrior. Doctors praise 'fighters' who survive. Her emotional state feels like the deciding factor between life and death.
Outnumbered by THREE armies, certain annihilation. God said, 'You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and SEE the salvation of the LORD.' They sang worship while enemies killed EACH OTHER. They spent 3 DAYS gathering spoils they didn't fight for - instant, effortless victory through abiding, not striving.
I REFUSE the lie that healing depends on my mental strength or fighting spirit. IT IS WRITTEN that the battle is NOT mine but God's. I don't fight FOR victory; I rest IN the victory Jesus already won when He said 'It is FINISHED.' My positivity doesn't heal me - His BLOOD does. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a branch abiding in the Vine, and branches don't fight to produce fruit, they simply STAY CONNECTED and life flows automatically. The BARAK blessing is not based on my warrior strength but on HIS covenant faithfulness. Christ redeemed me from the curse, and I STAND STILL and see the salvation of the Lord. I position myself in REST, not striving.
The Father isn't waiting for you to muster enough bravery before He moves. He's running toward you while you're still crying in the bathroom, ready to fight this battle FOR you, not alongside you. While you were reading 'how to stay positive during cancer,' He was already declaring 'It is FINISHED' over your body.
