"I need to confess every single sin or demons will use unconfessed sin against me."
How it sounds in your head: I've heard that unconfessed sin gives the enemy a foothold. I try to remember everything I've done wrong so I can confess it, but what if I forget something? What if there's hidden sin giving demons access?
"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."
-- 1 John 1:7Religious teaching that turns confession into a works-based protection ritual, ignoring that Jesus' blood covers what you can't remember and didn't even know.
The idea of 'footholds' sounds biblical and gives her a sense of control—if she's thorough enough, she'll be safe. It also explains ongoing struggles as the result of forgotten sins she needs to uncover.
His friends lowered him through a roof to Jesus. Jesus said 'Your sins are forgiven' before the man said a word—no confession list required. Jesus forgave based on FAITH, not a thorough sin inventory, and immediately healed him.
I REFUSE the lie that unconfessed sin gives the enemy access. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from ALL sin—not just what I remember, but ALL. Jesus knows every sin I'll ever commit and already paid for it at the cross. IT IS WRITTEN that God forgave me ALL trespasses, nailing them to the cross. I don't protect myself through perfect confession—I'm protected through Jesus' perfect blood. The enemy has no foothold in a life sealed by the Holy Spirit. I am BLESSED with the BARAK, covered even when I forget, because my covenant is in Christ's finished work, not my flawless memory.
The Father isn't waiting for you to remember every sin before He forgives you—He forgave you ALL trespasses at the cross before you even committed them. He's saying, 'My Son's blood is enough, even for what you can't remember.'
