"I must have prayed outside of God's will—that's why He didn't answer."
How it sounds in your head: You prayed for that job, that relationship, that opportunity—and got nothing. Maybe it wasn't 'God's will.' Maybe you were praying for the wrong thing, asking selfishly. Now you're afraid to pray for what you actually want.
"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Source: Religion that makes you second-guess every desire and creates paralysis, as if God's will is a SECRET you have to guess correctly.
You've heard 'God's will' used as the explanation for every unanswered prayer. It's a catch-all that makes you afraid to ask for anything specific, because what if it's not 'His will'?
God told Solomon, 'Ask what you want Me to give you'—a BLANK CHECK. Solomon asked for wisdom, and God said, 'Because you asked for THIS and not long life or riches, I'm giving you wisdom AND riches AND honor.' God didn't just answer the prayer; He MULTIPLIED it beyond what was asked.
I REFUSE the lie that I prayed outside God's will and that's why nothing happened. IT IS WRITTEN that when I delight in the Lord, He gives me the DESIRES of my heart—my desires aren't the enemy. God isn't a puzzle I solve; He's a FATHER who loves to give. IT IS WRITTEN in Matthew 7:11 that if I, being evil, know how to give good gifts, HOW MUCH MORE does my heavenly Father give good things to those who ask. I am FREE to ask boldly, specifically, expectantly.
The Father isn't punishing you for asking 'wrong'—He's a GIVER who loves when you come honestly with your desires. Like the father who gave the prodigal the BEST robe, not the servant robe he asked for, your Father loves to give BEYOND what you ask.
