"I must have missed God's will—if I'd chosen right, I wouldn't be divorced."
How it sounds in your head: I prayed about marrying him. I thought it was God's will. Either I missed God completely, or He let me make a 40-year mistake. Either way, I can't trust my own discernment anymore. What else have I gotten wrong?
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
-- Romans 8:28Spiritual perfectionism that demands you never miss it, as if God's only Plan A and human choices destroy His sovereignty.
You did pray. You did feel peace. You did believe it was right. And now it's over, so clearly something went wrong—and that something feels like your failure to hear God correctly.
Jonah ran the OPPOSITE direction from God's will, got swallowed by a fish as consequence, and still—God brought him back and used him to save an entire city. Missing it once didn't disqualify him; God redirected and accomplished His purpose anyway through a man who completely blew it.
I REFUSE the lie that I missed God's will and now I'm stuck. IT IS WRITTEN that all things work together for good—not some things, ALL things, including divorce I never wanted. God's sovereignty is bigger than my choices. IT IS WRITTEN that His plans for me are for good and not evil, to give me a future and a hope. I didn't ruin His plan; He's working His plan THROUGH everything. I trust His goodness more than I fear my mistakes. The BARAK blessing doesn't depend on me getting everything right—it depends on His covenant faithfulness.
The Father isn't sighing over your 'wrong choice'—He's been WITH you every day of that marriage, and He's with you now, turning even this into part of your testimony. He doesn't have Plan B; He has Plan REDEMPTION, and it's always been His favorite.
