"I must have done something to deserve being betrayed"
How it sounds in your head: If I was a better friend, daughter, person, they wouldn't have hurt me. Maybe I was too needy, too much, too emotional. People treat you the way you deserve to be treated, so this must be on me.
"And His disciples asked Him, saying, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?' Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
-- John 9:2-3Enemy twisting 'reap what you sow' into victim-blaming, making her responsible for someone else's sin
Religion teaches that suffering is consequence, and her brain is searching for control by finding what she did 'wrong' to cause it. If she caused it, she can prevent it—false sense of power.
Job's friends insisted his suffering MUST be punishment for hidden sin, but God Himself said Job was blameless and upright. Job lost everything through NO fault of his own, and God didn't just restore him—He gave him DOUBLE what he lost, instantly blessing him.
I REFUSE the lie that I deserved betrayal! IT IS WRITTEN that suffering isn't always punishment—Jesus said 'NEITHER' when asked who sinned. The betrayal was THEIR choice, not my consequence. I am righteous by the blood of Jesus, not by my performance, and that righteousness means I don't 'deserve' pain when I fail. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me—I am LOVED at my worst, not punished with betrayal. I am covered by the Abrahamic blessing that protected Abraham even when HE was the liar and deceiver—the blessing isn't based on my perfection. God is not punishing me; He's RESTORING me. Double is coming for what betrayal stole.
The Father is FURIOUS at the enemy's accusation that you deserved this—you're His daughter and betrayal was an ASSAULT on you, not judgment FROM Him. He's already planning the restoration that will make the betrayer regret what they threw away.
