"I missed God's will and should have stayed in my original calling or career."
How it sounds in your head: I left a good position to chase this dream, and now I'm starting over. Maybe I was supposed to stay where I was. Maybe this entrepreneurial venture was MY idea, not God's. I missed the path.
"A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps."
-- Proverbs 16:9Religious teaching that there's only one narrow path and missing it means permanent off-course failure.
The contrast between where you were (stable, established) and where you are (rebuilding, uncertain) makes the former look like God's will and the latter like your mistake. Hindsight makes the safe path look like the God path.
Jonah deliberately RAN from God's will, boarded a ship going the opposite direction, got thrown into the sea, swallowed by a fish for three days. God STILL got him to Nineveh and used him powerfully—you can't out-run God's purpose even when you try.
I REFUSE the lie that I missed God's will or should have stayed where I was. IT IS WRITTEN that a man plans his way but the LORD directs his steps—even my plans are under His sovereignty. Jonah ran from God's will and STILL ended up exactly where God wanted him. I cannot out-mistake God's ability to direct my life. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL things work together for good to those who love God—that includes closed businesses, changed directions, and unexpected paths. The BARAK blessing doesn't require perfect navigation, only covenant connection. I am IN CHRIST, and He makes my paths straight even when they look crooked to me.
The Father isn't frustrated that you took a detour—He's already at the destination waiting for you, and the detour taught you things the straight path never would have. He wastes NOTHING, including closed businesses and changed careers.
