"I lost my temper too many times; they'll remember me as an angry mom."
How it sounds in your head: I can list the times I yelled, lost control, said things I can't take back. Other mothers stayed calm. I was the mom who screamed, and that's what they'll tell their therapist. That's who I was to them - the angry one.
"Love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."
-- 1 Corinthians 13:5Enemy magnifying moments of failure into identity definition, erasing all the moments of love to create a false narrative of who you were as a mother.
The moments you lost control are seared in your memory with perfect clarity, while the thousands of gentle moments have faded. You remember your worst, and the enemy tells you that's all they remember too.
Moses lost his temper spectacularly, striking the rock in anger and misrepresenting God before all Israel, which cost him entry to the Promised Land. Yet when Scripture summarizes Moses' life, he's called the most humble man on earth (Numbers 12:3) and God's friend who spoke face to face (Exodus 33:11). His angry moment didn't define his legacy or his relationship with God.
I REFUSE the lie that my children will only remember me as the angry mom. IT IS WRITTEN that love keeps no record of wrongs and love never fails. The love I poured into them in ten thousand unseen moments did NOT evaporate because I lost my temper. I am a daughter of the King, defined by HIS patience in me, not my worst moments. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The Father doesn't remember my angry outbursts - they're covered by the blood. My kids will remember LOVE because love never fails.
The Father is running toward you with a record book that has NOTHING written in it about your failures - the blood erased it all. He's embracing you as the 'good mom' while you're still listing reasons you were the 'angry mom,' because He defines you by CHRIST'S righteousness, not your worst parenting moments.
