"I lack authority because I still struggle with sin and temptation."
How it sounds in your head: How can I take authority over demons when I looked at porn last week? How can I pray with power when I can't even control my own thoughts? Real spiritual warriors don't struggle like I do. My secret sins disqualify me.
"For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."
-- Romans 5:17Source: Religion teaching authority requires personal perfection, making your power dependent on behavior rather than covenant.
You know what you did last night or last week, and it feels hypocritical to speak with authority when you're still battling the same things. Clean guys have power; messy guys don't—that's the unspoken rule you absorbed.
Abraham LIED to Pharaoh about Sarah being his wife to save his own skin—pure cowardice and deception. God didn't strip his authority or blessing—instead, God PLAGUED Pharaoh and Abraham left Egypt RICHER with more livestock, silver, and gold because the BARAK blessing protects covenant, not behavior.
I REFUSE the lie that my struggles disqualify me from authority. IT IS WRITTEN that I have RECEIVED the GIFT of righteousness and therefore I REIGN in life through Jesus Christ. My authority is not based on my track record but on HIS finished work. The same BARAK blessing that protected Abraham when he LIED protects me—not because I'm perfect but because I'm in COVENANT. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NOW no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. I stand in His righteousness, not mine, and from that position I command darkness to flee. The enemy has no claim because the blood speaks better things than my failures ever could.
The Father sees you through the blood, not through your browser history. He's not waiting for 90 days of sobriety to hand you the keys to the kingdom—He already put them in your hand while you still smelled like the pig pen.
