"I have to work harder to keep up because my energy isn't what it was."
How it sounds in your head: You're losing ground. You have to compensate with longer hours, more discipline, more effort just to maintain what used to come easily. You're competing with younger guys who have more stamina, and you're falling behind. Push harder or get left behind.
"The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."
-- Exodus 14:14Performance spirit magnified by age comparison, making rest feel like failure and striving feel like survival.
You literally see younger colleagues handling workloads you used to manage easily, and you feel the gap. The marketplace rewards stamina, and yours seems diminished, so working harder feels like the only logical response.
Facing three massive armies, Jehoshaphat was told, 'You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD.' They worshiped, God fought, enemies destroyed each other, and it took them THREE DAYS to gather the spoils—victory without effort.
I REFUSE the lie that I must work harder to compensate for less energy. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord fights FOR me and I hold my peace. I am not in a striving competition; I am in a covenant of favor. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in all the work of my hands—not because of my stamina but because of His blessing. Like Jehoshaphat who didn't fight but gathered spoils for three days, I receive supernatural productivity without striving. The Father doesn't demand more effort; He supplies more grace. I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, because of COVENANT, not performance.
The Father isn't measuring your output against younger men—He's pouring out favor that has nothing to do with your energy and everything to do with His promise. While you're still feeling the pressure to perform, He's already positioned the breakthrough that requires no striving, only receiving.
