"I have to punish my body for eating 'bad' foods"
How it sounds in your head: I ate too much today. I had dessert. I feel disgusting. I need to make up for it—skip meals tomorrow, exercise twice as hard, punish myself back into control.
"Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—'Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle'... These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh."
-- Colossians 2:20-23Religion spirit imposing Old Covenant punishment where Christ already paid, making body an enemy to subdue.
She's internalized the lie that her body is untrustworthy and must be disciplined like a criminal. Control = safety, and punishment feels like justice.
The thief did NOTHING good—he was a criminal being executed. He couldn't work, couldn't earn, couldn't 'make up' for his past. He simply said, 'Remember me.' Jesus IMMEDIATELY replied, 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Instant forgiveness, zero punishment, pure grace.
I REFUSE the lie that I must punish my body. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ took ALL punishment at the cross—there is NONE left for me. My body is not my enemy; it is the temple of the Holy Spirit, precious and cared for by the Father. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. I am BARAK BLESSED—walking in grace, not guilt. I don't punish—I RECEIVE. I don't earn—I REST. I am FREE from the law of sin and death.
The Father isn't waiting for you to pay for that meal. JESUS ALREADY PAID. He's not keeping a tally of 'good' and 'bad' days. He's inviting you to rest, to receive, to trust that His grace is BIGGER than your fears. You are not guilty. You are LOVED.
