"I have to earn what everyone else just gets given."
How it sounds in your head: Other girls get cars for their birthday. Their parents pay for college. They get help with their first apartment. Meanwhile I'm working two jobs just to survive. If I want anything, I have to fight for every single penny. Nothing comes easy for me.
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
-- Romans 8:32Source: Religion's works gospel says you must earn what grace freely gives.
She's watching peers receive what she has to work for. The comparison is constant and exhausting. Her reality is hustle while others glide, which feels deeply unfair.
Stood far off, wouldn't even lift his eyes, just said 'God, be merciful to me a sinner.' Jesus said he went home JUSTIFIED—completely righteous—without a single work, just reception of grace.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn what grace freely gives. IT IS WRITTEN that God freely gives me ALL things with Christ. I don't strive—I ABIDE. I'm a branch connected to the vine, and fruit is AUTOMATIC from connection, not production. The tax collector got righteousness without works. The prodigal got the ring without proving himself. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail. The BARAK blessing isn't about who works hardest—it protected LIARS and DECEIVERS. I receive freely what my Father freely gives. Favor and provision flow TO me because I'm His daughter.
Your Father isn't keeping score of your effort compared to others—He's pouring out blessing based on His NATURE, not your hustle. What looks like 'earning' for you is actually you discovering how to RECEIVE what He's already placed in your hand.
