"I have to earn the right to eat by exercising or being productive first."
How it sounds in your head: You calculate every meal against your activity level. If you didn't exercise that day, you don't deserve dinner. If you were lazy, you should skip breakfast. Food is wages for work performed, not a gift freely given.
"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
-- Matthew 6:26Source: Works-righteousness religion that infiltrated the dinner table, making nourishment a reward instead of a provision.
You've heard 'calories in, calories out' so many times it sounds like biblical truth. Earning your food through effort feels responsible, disciplined, righteous—not recognizing it's LAW, not grace.
For 40 years, God rained down manna every morning for Israelites who did NOTHING to earn it—they just woke up and it was there. They didn't work for it, perform for it, or deserve it. It was pure PROVISION based on God's nature, not their productivity.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn food through exercise or productivity. IT IS WRITTEN that God feeds the birds who don't sow or reap, and I am worth MORE than birds. Food is PROVISION, not payment. My Father feeds me because I'm His daughter, not because I performed enough. IT IS WRITTEN that He rained down manna for 40 years on people who did nothing to earn it—just pure provision based on His nature. I am under GRACE, not food-earning laws. The BARAK blessing includes abundance and provision that isn't based on my behavior. I eat as a GIFT, not a wage.
Your Father isn't standing at the pantry with a checklist of your day's activity—He's spreading a table before you and inviting you to feast because you're His beloved daughter. He fed manna to wandering Israelites and multiplied loaves for hungry crowds who contributed NOTHING. He feeds you because He's GOOD, not because you earned it.
