"I have to earn the right to eat by exercising or being 'good.'"
How it sounds in your head: You calculate every calorie burned before you allow yourself lunch. If you didn't walk today, you skip dinner or eat only salad. Food is reward for performance, punishment for laziness.
"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
-- Matthew 6:26Works-based religious system applied to physical needs—you must EARN even basic sustenance through effort.
Every diet program, every fitness app, every wellness guru preaches 'calories in, calories out'—you literally do have to burn to earn in their system. It feels like physical law.
Elijah was suicidal, exhausted, running in fear, asking to die. God's response wasn't 'earn your food through faith'—an angel woke him with fresh bread and water. TWICE. Then Elijah traveled 40 days on that meal's strength.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn food through exercise or behavior. IT IS WRITTEN that my Father feeds the birds who don't work for it—I am worth MORE than sparrows. Food is PROVISION, not wages. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:8 that the Lord COMMANDS blessing on my storehouses—not because I jogged, but because I'm Abraham's seed under the BARAK. I am a daughter, not a hired servant. I receive nourishment as GIFT from a Father who delights to feed me. My body is blessed coming and going, whether I exercised or not.
The Father doesn't have a performance tracker on your Fitbit deciding if you've earned lunch. He's spreading the table, pulling out your chair, delighted to nourish you simply because you're His—no gym membership required for His feast.
