"I have to earn my place in the family to get the inheritance."
How it sounds in your head: I'm the adopted one. The stepdaughter. The one who came later. If I'm good enough, helpful enough, quiet enough—maybe they'll really include me and I'll get what the 'real' kids get.
"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ."
-- Romans 8:15-17Orphan spirit from blended family dynamics—the enemy making her earn what's freely given by grace, twisting belonging into performance.
She feels the difference between 'blood' kids and her. She watches for signs of favoritism, measures her acceptance by how much she serves. Love feels conditional because family structure is complicated.
They were Joseph's sons by an Egyptian wife, born in a foreign land, technically 'half-Egyptian.' Jacob ADOPTED them as his own sons—'Ephraim and Manasseh shall be MINE, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine'—giving them FULL tribal inheritance equal to his biological sons. Adoption gave them the SAME blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that I have to earn my place to get the inheritance. IT IS WRITTEN that I received the Spirit of ADOPTION—I am a CHOSEN child, a WANTED heir, fully included by grace. I didn't work for this position; I RECEIVED it as a GIFT. IT IS WRITTEN that if I am a child, then I am an HEIR—a joint heir with Christ, meaning my inheritance is EQUAL, not lesser, not conditional. The BARAK blessing flows to me because I am IN CHRIST, not because I performed my way into the family. The Father runs toward me with the robe, the ring, the sandals—FULL acceptance, FULL identity, FULL inheritance—right now, because that's what adoption means in His kingdom. I am loved, included, and blessed as a FULL daughter, in Jesus' name.
Papa didn't adopt you to put you on probation—He chose you, placed the Spirit in your heart, and gave you the FULL inheritance because adopted children are WANTED children. He's running toward you with the robe and ring because you're HIS, completely and forever.
