"I have to earn my parents' approval, and because I never got it, I'm still trying with everyone."
How it sounds in your head: Nothing I did was ever good enough for them. Now I'm exhausted performing for my husband, my kids, my friends, my boss—terrified that if I stop striving, I'll be rejected like I was by them. I can't stop auditioning for love.
"To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved."
-- Ephesians 1:6Performance mindset rooted in conditional parental love now applied to all relationships and God.
Her entire childhood was about earning approval that never came. Now every relationship feels like another test she's failing.
Unloved, unwanted, used by her father, rejected by her husband who loved her sister. She tried to earn love through childbearing. But God SAW her rejection and INSTANTLY opened her womb. He gave her Judah—the Messianic line came through the UNLOVED one, not the favorite.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn approval. IT IS WRITTEN that God has MADE me ACCEPTED in the Beloved—not because I performed, but because of JESUS. I am not auditioning for love from God, my husband, or anyone—I am ALREADY fully loved. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ, fully pleasing to Him. I REST in His acceptance. I do not strive—I ABIDE. I am a branch connected to the Vine, and fruit comes FROM HIM, not my effort.
The Father is not waiting for you to finally be 'enough'—He's been calling you BELOVED since before you took your first breath. He doesn't grade your performance. He DELIGHTS in you as His daughter, and His approval is PERMANENT because it's based on JESUS, not you.
