"I failed my own children because of how my parents failed me—generational curse."
How it sounds in your head: I see it—I repeated the patterns. My kids struggled because I was wounded. Now my grandkids are suffering. Three generations of dysfunction and it's my fault for not breaking the cycle.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Enemy twisting generational consequences into a curse that Christ ALREADY broke on the cross.
You can trace the patterns—your mother's criticism became your criticism. Your father's absence became your emotional unavailability. The evidence is in your adult children's struggles.
Prostitute from a pagan city, entire family marked for destruction. One act of faith and she's INSTANTLY saved, grafted into Israel, and becomes GREAT-GRANDMOTHER OF KING DAVID—in the Messianic line. Her past didn't disqualify her lineage; her faith INSTANTLY redeemed it.
I REFUSE the lie that my family is under a generational curse. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ has REDEEMED us from the curse—past tense, finished—that the BLESSING of Abraham might come upon us. The curse was broken at the cross. My children and grandchildren are under BLESSING, not curse. IT IS WRITTEN: The BARAK protected liars, deceivers, even murderers because covenant is about God's faithfulness, not ours. I am in the BETTER covenant. My lineage is blessed. God is running toward my children NOW with restoration.
The Father doesn't see generational curse when He looks at your family—He sees generational BLESSING. Every failure, every pattern, every wound is covered by the blood. He's not waiting for you to fix three generations. He's declaring over all of them: BLESSED.
