"I have to confront my parents and make them acknowledge the hurt to move forward."
How it sounds in your head: Until they admit what they did, apologize, and take responsibility, I'm stuck. I need their validation of my pain to be free. Without their acknowledgment, there's no closure.
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed."
-- Luke 4:18World system—making your freedom dependent on another person's repentance instead of Christ's finished work setting you free regardless.
They've never admitted wrongdoing, never apologized, sometimes act like it never happened. It feels like gaslighting and the injustice burns. Every boundary book says you need to confront to heal.
Betrayed by brothers who never apologized, sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned for years. God promoted him to second in command of Egypt BEFORE the brothers acknowledged their sin or apologized—his breakthrough didn't wait for their repentance; God vindicated him regardless.
I REFUSE the lie that I need my parents' acknowledgment to be free. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus proclaims LIBERTY to captives—my freedom doesn't depend on their repentance. God vindicates me whether they ever apologize or not. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail, and the BARAK blessing protects me regardless of what they do or don't say. I am FREE because JESUS said so, and His word is the only validation I need.
Your Father is running toward you with vindication that doesn't require their admission—He SAW it, He KNOWS, and He's setting you free while they're still silent. His validation is the only one that matters, and He's whispering 'You're RIGHT. It WAS wrong. And you're FREE NOW.'
