"I have to conserve energy for important things and can't waste it on joy or fun."
How it sounds in your head: I only have so much energy in a day, so I need to budget it carefully. I can't afford to 'waste' it on things that aren't essential. Joy and fun are luxuries I can't afford anymore.
"Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."
-- Nehemiah 8:10Scarcity mindset treating energy like limited resource that must be hoarded rather than supernatural gift.
She's experienced the crash that comes from 'overdoing it,' so rationing energy seems like wise stewardship. Every fun activity means something important won't get done.
David danced before the Lord with ALL his might, leaping and whirling in abandoned worship. He didn't conserve energy for 'more important' kingly duties—the joy-filled worship energized him for everything else God called him to do.
I REFUSE the lie that I must ration energy and avoid joy to conserve strength. IT IS WRITTEN that the joy of the Lord is my STRENGTH—joy doesn't drain me, it fuels me. I'm not operating from a limited battery but from connection to an infinite Source. David danced with ALL his might because worship energizes rather than depletes. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 16:11 that in His presence is fullness of joy—fullness, not scarcity. Joy is not a luxury; it's my strength. I receive supernatural energy for both duty AND delight NOW.
The Father isn't rationing your joy until you've handled responsibilities—He's running toward you with fullness of joy because He knows it's the source of your strength. He sees you dancing with abandon, not managing an energy budget.
