"I have to choose between my cultural identity and following Jesus fully."
How it sounds in your head: Church feels like white culture. My family says Christianity erases our heritage. I love Jesus, but I don't want to abandon who I am. It feels like I have to pick one or the other.
"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands."
-- Revelation 7:9Religious colonialism lie that God requires cultural erasure rather than redemption, confusing Western tradition with Gospel truth.
Church doesn't look like your family gatherings. Worship style, communication, and expectations feel foreign. Your relatives accuse you of 'turning white' or abandoning your roots when you talk about faith.
A Roman centurion—occupying force, oppressor culture—received the Holy Spirit WITHOUT becoming Jewish first. God shattered Peter's religious box by filling a Gentile household INSTANTLY, proving the Gospel transcends cultural conversion.
I REFUSE the lie that Jesus requires me to abandon my cultural identity. IT IS WRITTEN that Heaven includes all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues—my heritage has a place in God's Kingdom. Christ redeems culture, He doesn't erase it. I don't have to choose between my background and my Savior. IT IS WRITTEN that God created the nations and set their boundaries—He VALUES diversity. My identity is first SON OF GOD, and that identity enhances rather than erases my cultural background. I walk in the fullness of both, redeemed and celebrated.
Your Father didn't send Jesus to make everyone the same—He sent Him to redeem every tribe and tongue. You don't have to sound, look, or act like Western church culture to be fully His beloved son.
